The Seven Sisters

The Seven Sisters is a small archipelago of uninhabited islands just south of the Buffalo Bluff railroad bridge and the Cross Florida Barge Canal (or Greenway, as it's now supposed to be called).

The islands are a definite must-see if you're into natural florida scenery. The islands are easily navigable by houseboat, but it's quite common for a smaller boat to take some of your crew on a tour of the islands while you continue motoring south (or back north).

If Seven Sisters happens to be your destination for the evening, then it's an especially beautiful place, as being far from the sights (and sounds!) of the city can really make this a memorable get-away. It isn't unusual to see Alligators back among the islands.

One of the locals of Hermits Cove has granted permission for River Adventures guests to use his permanent mooring in the open water just south of the bar. If you see him in the bar, be sure to buy him a beer as thanks!

Location South of Buffalo Bluff, North of the Barge Canal
Distance Almost 2.5 hours south
Directions The islands are immediately around the bend from the Railroad bridge, to the south.
Mooring Aside from Hermits Cove, there is ample room between the third and fourth islands (counting from the north). Drop anchor, and make sure you have plenty of room to swing as winds and tide take you around.
